The Chicago Union proudly compete in the National Collegiate Development Conference (NCDC), the highest level of junior hockey within the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL). Beginning in the 2026-27 season, the Union will take the ice as members of the Great Lakes Division within the Midwest Conference, joining some of the most respected and competitive organizations in North American junior hockey.
The NCDC is recognized as one of the premier development leagues in the country, providing elite players with a direct pathway to NCAA Division I, NCAA Division III, ACHA, and professional hockey opportunities. Throughout the season, players are consistently evaluated by college coaches, professional scouts, and hockey decision-makers from across North America.

A League Built for Advancement
As a tuition-free junior hockey league, the NCDC is designed to maximize player development while preparing athletes for success both on and off the ice. Teams throughout the Midwest Conference are supported by strong ownership groups, outstanding facilities, experienced coaching staffs, and comprehensive player development programs focused on helping athletes reach their full potential.
The NCDC's non-import structure allows organizations to recruit elite talent from around the world while maintaining a strong commitment to developing North American players. The result is a highly competitive environment that challenges players daily and accelerates their advancement to the next level.
The Pursuit of the Dineen Cup
At the conclusion of the regular season, the NCDC's top teams compete for the opportunity to capture the prestigious Dineen Cup, awarded annually to the league champion. The playoff format features the conference champions along with a Wild Card qualifier, creating an intense championship tournament that showcases the league's best talent on the biggest stage.
